BLACKPINK Sales and Streaming Achievements

This list is mostly comprised of BLACKPINK’s recent sales and streaming accomplishments from 2018 on. This is for several reasons. The first is that my main news resource is Soompi, and they didn’t start extensively summarizing charts like Gaon until 2018. The second is because Gaon Chart itself revised some of its criteria in 2018, specifically the requirements for platinum certifications. And lastly, there’s more information from the last couple of years because BLACKPINK didn’t start exploding in popularity until around “DDU-DU DDU-DU.” (They were popular from the start, but “DDU-DU DDU-DU” really set things into motion both in South Korea and globally.)

Outside of platinum certifications and all-kills, this page mostly covers when BLACKPINK ranked #1 on any of Gaon’s weekly or monthly charts, and if they ranked on any year end charts. BLACKPINK is frequently on Gaon Chart, but I decided to limit this page to their #1s because otherwise it would be way too long. I also haven’t listed every single number one for the Social Chart because there are a lot of them. For example, BLACKPINK has been #1 on the Social Chart for over 20 weeks so far this year. Instead of listing all of them, I’ve linked the source for the first week and the latest week.

Some of Jennie’s achievements for “SOLO” have been included here, but all of them are on her own individual profile.

NOTE FROM KATHERINE – BLACKPINK has had a LOT of achievements over the past couple years. Since there’s so much information, I decided to break everything down into separate pages. Here are the links for the other pages: Music Show Wins, Billboard Achievements, Other Miscellaneous Achievements, YouTube Views, and Awards.

Sales and Streaming

2018

  • “DDU-DU DDU-DU” received a Certified All-Kill about a day after its release, followed by a Perfect All-Kill around a day after that.
  • “DDU-DU DDU-DU” placed #1 on Gaon’s download chart the week of June 10 – 16.
  • “DDU-DU DDU-DU” placed #1 on Gaon’s monthly digital chart for June.
  • BLACKPINK earned a quadruple crown on Gaon the week of June 17 – 23 when “DDU-DU DDU-DU” topped the digital, download, and streaming charts while Square Up topped the album sales chart. Their score on the digital chart was also the highest score of the year at that time (not sure if anyone topped it).
  • “DDU-DU DDU-DU” also topped the overall digital chart the weeks of June 24 – 30 and July 1 – 7.
  • “DDU-DU DDU-DU” also topped the streaming chart the weeks of June 24 – 30, July 1 – 7 and July 8 – 14.
  • “DDU-DU DDU-DU” placed #1 on Gaon’s monthly digital and streaming charts for July.
  • BLACKPINK appeared on several of Gaon Chart’s year end lists for 2018:
    • #5 on the overall digital chart (for “DDU-DU DDU-DU”)
    • #8 on the download chart (for “DDU-DU DDU-DU”)
    • #6 on the streaming chart (for “DDU-DU DDU-DU”)

2019

  • BLACKPINK’s song “Kill This Love” placed #45 on Gaon’s Digital Chart for 2019, while the mini album Kill This Love placed #17 on the Album Sales Chart for 2019.

NOTE: “Kill This Love” was really popular in South Korea – I live here, and I heard that song EVERYWHERE well into 2020. However, there were several very high profile groups and artists who also had comebacks at the same time and there was a lot of competition. So while BLACKPINK ranked high on the Gaon charts during the “Kill This Love” era, they never got a #1.

2020

  • BLACKPINK rose to #1 on Gaon’s Social Chart (2.0) the week of May 24 – 30 and remained there for 25 consecutive weeks through the week of November 8-14.
  • “How You Like That” received a Perfect All-Kill less than a week after its release.
  • BLACKPINK earned a quadruple crown on Gaon Chart the week of June 28 – July 4 when “How You Like That” topped the digital download chart, streaming chart, and overall digital chart along with BLACKPINK placing #1 on the Social Chart (2.0) for the 6th week in a row.
  • BLACKPINK earned a triple crown on Gaon Chart the week of July 5 -11 when “How You Like That” topped the overall digital chart and the streaming chart and BLACKPINK placed #1 on the Social Chart (2.0) for the 7th week in a row.
  • BLACKPINK earned a triple crown on Gaon Chart the week of July 12 – 18 when “How You Like That” topped the overall digital chart and the streaming chart and BLACKPINK placed #1 on the Social Chart (2.0) for the 8th week in a row.
  • BLACKPINK earned a double crown on Gaon Chart the week of July 19 – 25 when How You Like That topped the album sales chart and BLACKPINK placed #1 on the Social Chart (2.0) for the 9th week in a row.
  • BLACKPINK earned a triple crown on Gaon’s Monthly Chart for July, taking #1 on the overall digital chart as well as the streaming and social charts.
  • BLACKPINK has been #1 on Gaon’s Monthly Social Chart (2.0) for six months in a row, from May to October.
  • The Album passed 1 million stock pre-orders, setting a record for the highest amount of stock pre-orders for a girl group and making BLACKPINK the first girl group to pass 1 million stock pre-orders.
  • “Lovesick Girls” placed #1 on Gaon’s Download Chart the week of September 27 – October 3.
  • The Album placed #1 on Gaon’s Album Sales Chart the week of October 4-10.
  • BLACKPINK officially became million sellers with the release of The Album, and they are also the first girl group to accomplish this.
  • Melon, one of South Korea’s largest streaming services, released a chart of the top 100 songs from the last decade (from 2010-2019). BLACKPINK had three songs on the chart: “DDU-DU DDU-DU” at #38, “As If It’s Your Last” at #50, and “Playing With Fire” at #55.
