Monsta X Variety Shows and Essential Content: “Trespass” Era

IMPORTANT!!! I have moved to Korea since I created this blog, and I have discovered that many videos – especially ones that are uploaded by fans with English subs – have been blocked on Korean YouTube and other websites.  So unfortunately, I cannot watch most of these videos or verify the links anymore.  This also means I cannot add as many videos as before because they simply are not available in my region.  I’m sorry if you click on something and it’s no longer there, but there’s not really any way for me to check! – Katherine

When Monsta X was being formed on NO.MERCY, they also had an online variety series named Deokspatch. (I think it’s a spoof of Dispatch, which is a Korean news outlet especially focused on celebrities and idols.) Since NO.MERCY was a survival show and had a more serious atmosphere, Deokspatch was intended to show the more light hearted and fun side of the contestants.  Once Monsta X debuted, they continued the segment. This season has them spoofing popular variety shows like Infinite Challenge, Running Man, and Happy Together.  More detailed episode descriptions available on the reality show page (episodes are linked there as well).

A popular variety show that shines the spotlight on one or more idol groups every episode.  There are well-known corners that often involve dance challenges or aegyo, but the guests always play games or complete missions to earn prizes. Monsta X appeared on the 200th anniversary special with Bora and Soyou from SISTER (their senior group). Members of senior groups brought along their junior rookie groups to introduce them on this episode – AOA and N.Flying, and Secret and SONAMOO.

Weekly Idol fansubbed episodes are normally blocked in Korea, and I can’t find any subbed clips on YouTube. I hope these episodes are still up, but I’m sorry if they’re not!
